[forthcoming] King & the Klan: A Visual Experience

Using never-before-seen film footage from 1966, this digital installation and introductory film contextualizes Martin Luther King, Jr.’s only appearance at NC State University within the framework of an 1,800 person KKK rally in downtown Raleigh. Seeing color film of this intentionally timed march informs why few today in the NC State Community remember or memorialize Dr. King’s appearance at Reynolds Coliseum, and serves as a stark reminder that the violence, anger, and hatred surrounding him still informs our everyday lives.
